Introduction

Hello! The name of are mission is San Francisco de asis. It was biult on Octoder 9,1776. Father  Francisco Palou started the mission. It is located on  the San Francisco Bay near the steam Arroyo de Nuestra Senora  de los Dolores. Our mission was built because spanish missionaries wanted to convert Native Americans to Catholicisam. The spanish King also wanted to claim more land for Spain. They wanted Native Califonians to suport Spains Colony.

Geography and Architecture

In Alta California on a busy street in the heart of  San Fransico on the coast of the Pacific Ocean layed Mission San Francisco de Asis. The materials that were used to built  our mission was adobe bricks and stain glass windows. The layout of our mission is a cemetery,garden,workshops,padio.Pades Quarters,Cattle Brand F,Pueblos,and farms. The buildings were unique because the Native Americans built the missions out of reeds and twigs bundled together.

People and Daily Life

The people who lived at the missions were Soldados,Native Americans,missionaries,and the Spanish. The residents awoke to the sounds of bells ringing . The Neophts at the mission for breakfast were given dry grains. Then they were brought together to go to chuch for Mass,morning prayers,and church lessons.

Hardships and Changes to the Mission

They raised live stock. The men worked on leatherworking,carpentry, black smithing  and much more. The women did the cooking,made baskets,soup,and cloth.They had livestock like cattle,sheep,mules,and horses.The tribe that lived at the mission San Fransisco de Asis was the Ohlone Indians.

The Mission Today

In addition to the 2 churches,the mission contains a museum and a gift shop. The museum houses display tools, baskets, pottery, and other items used by the Spanish missionaries and Ohlone Indians. The mission system ended when Mexico started the war for Indpendece from Spain. The Mexican people won in 1820. It started  in 1810 and it was an 11 year war. The mexican people beleved that it was wrong for the indians to be forced to live on the mission. The land was given to the mexican Goverment.The mission was inportant to California in many ways. The Spanish missionaries brought ideas and skills to California such as making clothes. The mission system changed CA econemy to farming (agricultral). Catholic beliefs and religon, Spanish language. The Missions Influenceed the way for buildings look (architecture). They brought horses to CA.
