Some Native Americans lived at the mission. The men farmed whle
the woman made products. The soldiers day was like the indians
except they protected the mission. The missionaries taught
how to make products and Catholicism.A day at the mission would begin when the bells ring
then they all go to pray. After praying they all eat
breakfast then worked. At the end of the day they would eat

Mission Santa Barbara is still used as a parish church today. It
is also used as a worship place. The mission system ended because
Mexico stared a war for indepedence in 1810-1821. The Mexican won the
war and they thought that the missions were useless and Native
Americans shoudn't work there at the mission. The land was given to
people in the Mexiczn goverment and built ranchos instead of giving the
land to the Native Americans. The Spanish missionaries brought ideas
and skills to Calfornia such as making clothes, teaching Catholoicism,
the spansh language, and new tecnologies wich had a big change on
California. The mission system changed C.A.'s ecomomy from
hunter-gatherer to farming.( agricultural) The Spanish also brang
horses to California. The mission influenced on how we build
buildings today. |
